Nachdem der Lehrer die Anwesenheit der Schüler kontrolliert hat, spielt er zum Einstieg mit den Schülern das Spiel „Galgenmännchen“ und greift dabei das Thema der letzten Stunde, die Ureinwohner Amerikas und deren Geschichte, auf. Nach Beendigung des Spiels stellt die Lehrkraft zunächst weitere Kontextfragen, bevor die Schüler anschließend einen Text zum Thema laut aus dem Schulbuch vorlesen. Der Lehrer korrigiert dabei die Aussprache, übernimmt wiederholend auch selbst einige Textpassagen und stellt Fragen zum Textverständnis. In der sich anschließenden Hörverständnisphase zum Alltagsleben einer „Native American“ sollen die Schüler ohne Textvorlage möglichst viele Informationen von einem von einer CD abgespielten Text ermitteln. Nach einem zweiten Hördurchgang tragen die Schüler die verstandenen Informationen zusammen, die vom Lehrer an die Tafel geschrieben werden. Im dritten Hördurchgang lesen die Schüler den Text im Englischbuch mit. Auch hier werden die von den Schülern verstandenen Informationen vom Lehrer zielgerichtet erfragt und schriftlich an der Tafel festgehalten. Unter Lehrerkorrektur folgt eine mündliche Wiederholung der erarbeiteten Informationen in ganzen Sätzen durch die Schüler. Zum Stundenende sollen die Schüler zur Festigung noch einmal fünf Sätze zum Text formulieren und in ihr Heft schreiben. Auffällig in dieser Stunde ist, dass Lehrer und Schüler wiederholt bei vielen Fragen, Arbeitsanweisungen beziehungsweise Antworten wiederholt die Muttersprache statt der Zielsprache verwenden.
